Rockwool is Wrong for Jefferson County

WHEREAS Rockwool will be one of the largest toxic polluters in West Virginia

INCLUDING cancer-causing chemicals, heavy metals, hazardous particulate matter, and ozone precursors;

WHEREAS Rockwool is located within 10,000 feet of four schools, with 30% of Jefferson County's student population;

WE THE PEOPLE strongly urge the Jefferson County Commission and Board of Education to each pass a resolution disapproving of Rockwool's location in the heart of Jefferson County.

    I don’t want toxic pollutants near my home. The risks far outweigh the benefits. Jobs produced by this company wouldn’t be sufficient cause for the danger the factory would pose to air and water quality. Furthermore the company is not locally owned. It’s not even nationally based. I say no.

    My next 50 years of investment into my families Hillsboro farm is at risk due to short sighted decisions by local officials. Rockwall jobs won’t provide as much stimulus as hoped. The numbers aren’t convincing. The limited return on investment lends credibility to the perception of probable graft by government officials endorsing such a nonsensical decision.
