As the father of twin boys, I do not want my children growing up with the fear of chemical spills like the 2014 Elk River spill, right in our own state!

From what I've read, this entire deal was pushed through quickly and quietly. Jefferson county needs to be safe and healthy for generations to come. We should not have to deal with decisions made for short term benefits.

My daughter and son-in-law just built a house near this and grandbabies will be starting school soon. Devastated to think any harm would come to their health due to this plant. That money is first and foremost in the eyes of those in power is appalling.

Jefferson County does not need an industrial manufacturing plant in town. Inviting such a business is wrong for JeffCo. I believe that the cost to our quality of life is greater than the economic advantages that Rockwool may provide. I would rather see the $15M spread across 150 small businesses in JeffCo, creating more jobs than the 150 Rockwool promises, and without the potential for sullying the beautiful JeffCo landscape with an industrial manufacturing plant and degrading the quality of the air and water of this region. Small businesses, not large corporations are what will make JeffCo successful. Also, it makes me very angry that JeffCo would agree to not collect taxes from a corporation that make hundreds of millions of dollars a year, making it so that residents have to foot Rockwool's tax bill. This discriminatory practice does not benefit the residents of JeffCo. Not to mention that it is a perk that no private citizen would ever be given, no matter the dire need. I also find it insulting that those in government who orchestrated this deal are only able to find businesses that provide blue collar, manual labor, manufacturing jobs. Why does JeffCo not entice tech industries, or solar panel plants? Does JeffCo not think that its citizens can handle those jobs? The only jobs JeffCo ever has for its residents are low wage, go-nowhere, manual labor jobs. It's sad that this is the best type of business that JeffCo politicians can entice to this region. You folks need to work harder and not count JeffCo residents short. Lastly, please think of the potential for decreased property values due to an industrial manufacturing plant coming to town.
